nothing went wrong, in fact, this is often what success looks like as an artist. You are idealistic and overambitious, you shoot for the moon, fall short of your own expectations, and end up with utterly beautiful work and impressive skills, despite having sacrificed a great deal of time and effort. You're frustrated, defeated and disillusioned with the medium itself. Then, you take a break for 3-6 months, or however long. You live life a little, and step away from your work. When the dust settles, and you finally have the strength to return to what you love, you look back and see how magnificent your achievement is, and have a firmer resolve than ever to create more incredible artwork.
Eventually, you learn that a single human can only do so much, and begin to rely on others, and delegate work/start a studio yourself, creating something on a grand scale that could only be produced by the tireless efforts of dozens or hundreds of top-tier geniuses, or you scale down your projects and become the soul author of something unique that catches fire around the world.
