I've been really stuck on gesture recently. I know I'm doing something wrong, but don't know what. Using Michael Hampton's figure drawing book but struggling to wrap my brain around it

I notice it's really hard for me if there is a lot of forms overlapping (crossed legs, arms in front of the torso) and in general it feels like I'm thinking too much since I struggle to finish defining all 8 major forms in 30s
