I'm trying to reconfigure mine. Starting in August I was aiming for eight hours a day, five days a week. I never once hit eight hours, the most I ever hit was six and I very quickly dropped down to 3.5-4 a day with weekends off.

Things got worse in September. I only hit the three hour mark 12 days out a possible 30. I used weekends to make up for lost time but even though my goal at the start of August was 40 hours a week over five days in September I averaged 15 hours a week with eight days off (only drawing a half hour or less). So thats 12 days of decent (but still far below my goals) work, 8 days of minimal or no work and 10 days of pure mediocrity.

October has been even worse. Depression hit hard and I'm only managing to get six or seven hours a week. I've been feeling like total shit and burnt out because I know I'm supposed to draw for hours and hours a day but I manage so little.

So now my plan is to start slow and aim for consistency. Just two hours a day, every day. I'm finding that two hours is easier to handle when thats my entire goal instead of being half or a quarter of my goal. If I get 2 hours in every day for a week thats 21 hours and hopefully with minimal burn out since I have plenty of room to relax without feeling guilty.

I'm three days in and I feel good. Hopefully once I get into the habit of drawing like this consistently I'll be able to add in more hours without sweat. I really want to get up to my 40hr/week goal.

Is this a good plan?

Here's a different perspective from the many already stated. When one doesn't get a lot of sleep, the brain can do weird things.
