Thank you. I did have trouble with the values, felt very timid about it. I'm going to try with another ref with stronger range and just go harder on the base colors.
The brush is the marker with I believe default settings. I use it for most everything, but the difference here is I didn't start with flats and lines, instead I laid down a "wash" and built it up gradually on one layer. A bit like watercolor.

I know the shoes are far out but I just like it that way, I really like drawing and exaggerating shoes. In fact it's the main reason why I reffed this. So different strokes? Idk
