Can someone explain why the artists that OP mentioned are admired so? I don't doubt that they have skill, but it seems like people are drawn to the rendering more than anything else. There are plenty of artists with far greater skill in appeal, gesture, pose, perspective, and so on, but they're overlooked - seemingly because they don't push rendering as much
