i think the other posters are missing what you're saying. assuming you practice all your life i don't necessarily think you get better as you get older, you just make different work.

i always think of when people say time goes faster as you get older. I think the work done as you age gets more patient, and more careful. That along with you having to make compensations for not having the energy and hunger of someone young. Say you get arthritis, or are bed ridden. You're art is going to be different than when you were fully functioning. It won't improve, it won't diminish, it'll just be your sensibilities and experience funneled through what you're physically and mentally capable of.

I think Matisse's cutouts are a good example of that.
