Don't you tell me how to use my sketchbook, dipshit.

1. Sketchbooks to me are a means to an end only, and so I like scribbling in my sketchbook and keep the cleaning and pruning for my finished pieces, which have nothing to do with inks or paper.

2. Trying to make everything perfect in my sketchbooks would take away time from the sketches and deviate from the primary purpose for the drawings in the first place; problem-solving the human form and design in general.

3. Some people make the most beautiful sketchbooks, but, frankly, they're not me and I'm not them.

4. I simply like scribbling because it's freeing and loosens me up for my serious stuff.

5. "Style" has nothing to do with it.

What exactly do you think studies are?

Are you that clueless to think that studies are used simply to render every detail?

Sweetie, in reality studies can be used for various things, from understanding intrinsic details, to understanding general forms, to being used to understand how to render complex things (ie, foliage) in simplified ways.

Also you can use texture brushes, but talk to any concept artist or illustrator and they'll tell you, as they say in all their videos, that custom brushes will -not- make your work better or more realistic, only understanding the forms being rendered will.
