Just finished this one took about an hour. Taking my first drawing class, I'm about 3 weeks in. What do I need to focus on the most?

Also how would I go about making finer detailed lines with shading? My finger smudges everything but I need something more thinner I guess.

Yeah I'm super new.

Also after taking the picture I noticed it looks better in person than in the picture, at least to me anyways. Does that have something to do with the lighting?
