Beyond relaxation, I think the real problem is the Paradox of choice.

The concept of the Paradox of Choice is that the more options we have the less happy we are. Because you have less time to study which of the millions of options is the best, you'll feel like a failure after picking any of them.

>“Nobody makes plans because something better might turn up, and the result is that nobody ever does anything.”

And when you draw, you become GOD.

You can invent anything. You design and create machines. You can kill or give life people. You can create impossible scenery. You invent people and lifes. You create worlds. Therefore there is no end to the things you have to think about.

No other career forces you to invent stuff as much as art. You have to make all the decisions yourself. Others just sit there, problems are elegantly presented to them by an external force and they just apply their skills and go home with a fat paycheck.

We artists have to choose the context, then the problems, then choose which problems are worth solving and then solve them. you have to consider and choose even the smallest and most irrelevant things like the position of a finger. But if you get it wrong, people will notice and call you out on it.

At every step of a painting we are making decisions, and if your decisions lead to failure you'll take 100% of the blame. It's your mistake alone.

Choosing which route to take has nothing to do with SKILL, since seeing the future can't be a skill. It's not even hard work but it will obliterate your mind with stress.

And it's more stressful nowadays thanks to digital. In traditional if you made a shitty choice you had to stuck with it. Now with digital you can transform, undo, wrap, liquify, edit, resize, change colors, use layers, copy and paste, etc. You're free to do anything so you feel like doing nothing. It's like our videogame backlog.
