Any book should i read on digital painting to make like pic?
I understands the fundamentals of light and shadow, form etc. but i can't apply it in digital media correctly. it feels so weird and ugly.

I assume this is done using digital yes?
If so how can I do this smooth transition in value and edges. Whenever I true smooth brush it looks ugly.
What techniques, tools, brushes should I be using especially for the left black and white one.
