i've haven't read fun with a pencil so i'm not sure how far along you're supposed to be at this point desu.

but it looks like you're having trouble placing the features on the head in a way that looks 3d.
try thinking about how the features would look on a 3d surface. some features like eyes are set inside the sphere, while the nose and mouth are on top of the sphere and are affected by the curvature of the sphere
pic rel is old guide i saved from here that helped me a lot in making the head look more 3d

I would have made this better if photoshop didn't place my lines with a 5 second delay, think my pc needs a restart.

You're still right at the beginning, don't be so concerned about things (including my crit), most importantly just focus on improving your line control and accuracy.
In other words just draw a lot.

>Every drawing involves symbols. Better artists just draw better symbols.
If everything is symbol-drawing then nothing is symbol-drawing because the distinction would become meaningless.
Sounds like you don't understand the intended meaning behind it because you're too concerned with the literal words.

Symbol-drawing as a beginner problem and intentional simplification and stylisation are so far apart in the conceptual universe that I do not understand how you conflate the two.
Go back to a book or video that talks about symbol-drawing and try to actually understand what they mean by that, instead of pretending that your literal preconception of the term accurately reflects it's meaning.
