Since everyone else is adding stuff, I figure I will, too. I'm rather fond of the geometry, lighting and values of this pic. I am also partial to the sense of bleak desolation that comes from the hostile snowstorm and the sterile industrial structures.

But in all seriousness, this is a pretty boring reference. Not much value, the setting and gesture isn't interesting, etc. The cloth wrinkling and shape could make an okay ref pic fro clothing, but that's it.

The hair is somewhat interesting, but I agree with the other anon that the lighting could be better. Though I suppose this is a more anatomical reference for science.

I agree with the rest of /ic/ here. We already have two or three other study threads with pretty girls in them. I'll give you that you could study volume and a little movement, but you can't see too much figure, and again, it's a pretty basic figure you could find anywhere.

Secondly, your battle moves aren't very realistic. The katana is best for quickly drawing out of your sheath for a quick, decisive blow to strike down another samurai or a peasant who showed you disrespect. Even then, no human being is strong enough to lift another person and toss them into the air like a ball. And as for impaling someone, katanas don't make good stabbing weapons, again, they are made for slashing.
