You're describing almost exactly how I did it, except the dark blue wash, where I left out the tower. If I did dark blue near the tower,I feel like it would sacrifice the crispness & be impossible to lighten to the right value. Everything else was soaked though.

thought this might be it, but I checked and it's 140lb.

What do I look for with craft tape? It's quite like a drum now, byt stapling is a huge pain in the ass, so if there's a tape solution I'd MUCH rather be doing that.

Thanks for the tip about the blue tape, but I've generally had really good results with it. I just have to be vigilant about wiping the edges.
