I wouldn't say my jaws are that good either but what's been helping me with the eyes is mostly taking care into the construction phase.
Might be unnecessary but I use a pseudo-skull that helps a bit, it's an easy construction method to memorize for me just to set everything up before drawing.

I got the construction method from a group of skulls I saw in the skull thread that's been going on.
