Yes you can, but, there will be a moment where you will regret it


It's gonna click, you'll go "My cute girls aren't as cute as ____ artist. I wish I could draw like them" and then you will look up some of their work. And as you trace and look up speedpaints trying to figure out what makes it look so good, you will find out that under all the cute 2d girls and stylization, there's a mountain of understanding. Everything you shrugged off before as unimportant, like anatomy and thinking of forms in 3 dimensions, will rear its ugly head again.

Now, if you're just a hobbyist, maybe here is where you give up, or just accept you'll never be as good. But if you've got aspirations on being an artist, realizing that you've flushed so much time down the toilet avoiding doing things that help make very single drawing you do better, will make you want to rope yourself

fair enough. thank you for clearing it up. I've been recently going in depth with anatomy studies and I think I lost the gesture in all the refining. I'll have to take a break to do some gesture drawing to make sure my work isn't getting too stiff

the sad part is, I was only a tiny bit through the course when I painted that. now that I'm further along I can see how much I fucked up on parts that I hadn't got to yet. Fuck dude
