It's hard to compare since the highest budget stuff would be Disney and Dreamworks, and also completely children-oriented, so the for-kids-look has a lot of influence. Nothing quite as mature in the west.

I quite liked the 2D animation Dreamworks stuff, like Road to El Dorado, but it's probably not something I would emulate.

You would probably be better off looking at comics for western styles. I particularly like the French comics styles though many of them are influenced by manga nowadays.

I think western styles aren't as "concentrated" as the Japanese anime style because we are a lot more individualistic than the Japanese and aim to be more unique.
