we also have an artbook thread, they have links for various books. there are even some study guides that have been posted here. they might help you.
also there's cgpeers; they have lots of "free" stuff. registration for cgpeers is on th 1st/15th of the month.

there are people who go into med school and engineering in their late 30s but i guess drawing is such an incredibly difficult skill that you can't learn it if you're not a 17 year old drawing anime fan art?
