Anime faces are so far removed from actual people it's pointless to prove or disprove either way. When you understand the evolution of anime and how incestuous the general artsyle is, you'd understand.

Japanese see themselves in the characters the same way that Americans do, because the faces are simple shaped symbols made to have appeal. There's not enough information to say this or that.

I won't deny that it doesn't have any western influences, it's been there since the very beginning.
