Hey mang! I really dig where your thing was going but I thought you might need some help with some stuff so I did a little overpainting. I don't really know what your dude was supposed to be so I made him into some kind of naked rat-wolf-cat-man to illustrate my points... I'm only doing this because I think you have a lot of potential but you need to focus on some things so you can be a real nigga like Slim Shady and Solid Snake or something some day...

My biggest crits:

You're looking at everything like a 2D shape. You really need to get in there and start shading stuff like they were actual 3D forms. This might sound boring but I think you should study stuff like spheres, cylinders and boxes. You also need to have something come towards the viewer and I subtly tried to do that with the characters thigh and knee.

Other minor stuff:

I love your design and you clearly have a really good eye for composition and lighting but you have to study some more anatomy. When I did this overpainting I just took a photo of a lion and a photo of some shoulder muscles and I think it's instantly more coherent. Don't be afraid to play around with this shit especially if you're doing creatures. I made his hip bones and scapulae unrealistically pronounced because I think it makes him look even more spooky and fierce than he did.

Some other thoughts:

Don't EVER pose your characters with a 100% side view of their head unless it's an album cover, study, or someone specifically asks for it. It's a dead giveaway for any professional looking at your work. "Okay this dude/chick can't draw shapes in 3D space". This really ties in with the first thing I said but I can't emphasize this stuff enough!

Also don't ever start to imply textures before you have the base anatomy, coherent lighting and ambient occlusion (according to lighting) on your character.
