I came to realize that Im hated on this board. Most of the time I post something, one or two anons show up to actively attack me, and if someone says something nice, they accuse me of samefagging; cant even participate in any of the discussions using my art because the first thing I get is insults directly related to the point at hand.
I'd say it's normal given the board we are in, but something about those replies Im getting recently feel very personal.

It doesnt really hurt me in a way that is significant, I doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things, the only thing is causing is that I lurk less and post even less, which is a win for me. But still, I cant help but wonder what I did I even do? I dont post in ill will, yet Im regarded as some kind of ill poster. Is it because my style is recognizable? Drawing what I like as opposed to what this board expects me to draw? There has to be some logical reason.

Can somebody explain this to me? I dont want to P my W because then I wouldnt get a proper answer. Im just curious to know what's wrong.

I have enough commissions (I turn far more people away than take on) and an audience. I don't think I'd ever want to post my work in here. Why?

Because I'm already filled with enough self doubt about my work and I don't need a bitter and failed artists to make attacks based on style preference disguised as critique or "ranking". Particularly nasty comments can really get under my skin for days sometimes and the doubt stops me from actually working on my commissions as I'm wondering if I just scammed that eager fan of mine by daring to charge as much as I have (I've been told my prices are cheap too).

I'd advise the same of other artists here, why take the hit at your ego like that? No one has to stand behind what they say here and people are weirdly bitter about art for the weirdest reasons. I'd feel awful knowing I'd discouraged a beginner artist.

I've had artists tell me that comments I left them years ago really encouraged them and now they surpass me in followers, be the change you want to see in the world.

>Can't they just revert back to older versions if the well gets poisoned?
Sure they can, but the need for new quality training data will, based on the current state of the art, never go away. It's not like their current iteration is perfect in any way.

People and especially AI bros are really good at muddying the waters when it comes to what is currently possible and what MIGHT be possible in the future.
AI tech made a huge leap forward 2 years ago, and made noteable, but much smaller/slower progress since then. People act as if this progress will continue with the same speed or even ramp up again, but there is no verifiable proof that this will the case. It's mostly just hype perpetuated by ai cultists and those people that stand to GAIN from keeping up that illusion.

Now that doesn't mean that it isn't possible we'll see big leaps forward in the near future, but don't be fooled by investors and CEOs into thinking that it is in any way guaranteed.

The same goes for the handling of training data, filtering and input/output quality. A company like OpenAI would obviously NEVER openly admit to problems they might already be facing.

Their current data sets also have massive flaws and huge biases, anything that is currently heavily underrepresented in the internet or western societies will remain so. People continue to focus purely on the strengths of ai, and completely ignore the weaknesses for which they don't have any solutions yet. But a Sam Altman sure as well won't ever point these out to anyone. They will continue to act as if their AI models could turn into real life Cortana at any moment, because it is very much in their interest to do so.
