I thought this was a discouraged thing to do?

I feel like I'm risking copying what I see versus analyzing what I see when I do things like this.

Also, I posted this in the draw thread to no avail but since I had this thread going, may as well post it here.

Am I doing it right? Both figure studies and blocking in the shadow shapes?

I'm not quite sure what I should be practicing (I just know that I'm not at where I'd like to be).

Should I be working on specific body parts from now on?
