>converting photo to b+w values to compare against value study
>color-pick red, 75% value
>add black layer in color blending mode
>color-pick again, becomes 18% value grey
"looks" right but can't help but feel i'm doing something wrong. what's happening here? some kind of compensation for different hues appearing different values to the eye? is that effect really that extreme?
