I want to draw exclusively from imaginaton. What I do is that I visualize something I think would be cool, then I start to draw. What happens next is that I constantly try to see things in the drawing and amplify them, such as when drawing a rock, there will always be some hint at a crack or a surface that I enhance and it starts looking more and more lke a rock. Or it might look like a head at the foot of the rock, I'll amplify that and see where it takes me. I stop and make an effort to visualize once in a while, to make the composition better or to nail down what the scribbles remind me of. pic related started out as a dude sitting in lotus position. I remember the hand looked good holding something and the necklace was just a area that happened to be a little lighter, that just looked like an amulet. etc...

I just did something and it turned out pretty cool imo. I could keep going, but it's exhausting. didn't look up from the paper once. rip it up, please. I have no loomis or anatomy knowledge fyi. Also faces are hard and time consuming. can't do both in one go and I almost never continue on a drawing after the initial session.
