How far should I go while sketching? Essentially I try to make it all look good/solid and spend on it as long as I can, because I feel the freedom and the fact that it's still something that will never reach the end phase. But on the other hand, the moment I get that look of something exactly how I wanted it, I will end up drawing over it exactly as it is in the sketch just to not lose it ( but that's the extremely boring part that most of the times I don't even reach ).

Would it be better if I just started painting instead? I'd even would like to know how hard would it be for someone to go from lineart when they know the basics to reach a similar level when painting, because I've thought about it.

( this is a paint fullscreen screenshot, the original is around 2500-3000 pixels resolution )
