I tried to keep your advice in mind as much as possible in this paintover of the face. Though I definitely had trouble. I used a Rubens portrait as a reference for how I'd like my brush-strokes to look and in doing so I learned:
I have been very lazy with my brush-strokes, I need to take more time with each stroke and make sure it's exactly right before applying, as by scumbling it in to fix it with a different colour you lose the texture and shape

Still not happy with the texture etc but I think I have made a step forward

Would be grateful for any more crit/advice as always
