the face gets fucked up by the painting. The underdrawings are generally accurate. That's kind of the point of gridding btw. Like hand drawing on canvas takes more time and there's a much greater chance for human error, which you can't erase, and ultimately it's going to be covered in paint. It's a lot more of a "risk" when you use hand drawing to set the foundation that you build on with paint, and there's very little "reward" because ultimately you make a painting with the paint.
