DO YOU HAVE TO BEAT YOUR HEART? DO YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON BREATHING? DO YOU HAVE TO CONSCIOUSLY DIGEST YOUR OWN FOOD?

Brain =/= Thinking

Here's my personal ranking, from best to worst:

>Glenn Vilppu
Top tier in every way. Most comprehensive instruction for Drawing Fundamentals, most sensible Compositional theories, and most clear cut anatomy instruction. Craig Mullins said to study him for 5 years full-time. Drew Struzan studied with Glenn and was a student of his. Everything I do in drawing and painting is based on what I learned from this Chad.

>Steve Huston
Second only to Glenn. But he does teach painting and Glenn never talks about paints or colors

>Rey Bustos
Amazing anatomy lectures. Even Craig Mullins said he watches them.

>Karl Gnass
Doesn't have much on nma but what he does have is also really good. Basically Michael Hampton.

>Erik Olson
Comprehensive Perspective lectures. Heard good things about them. I liked the first lesson a lot, but I already know perspective so I didn't bother working through it.

>Bill Perkins
Huge Composition and Color Theory classes, but I think he's making most of it up. I don't know. He has a draped figure drawing course too but I haven't watched it.

>Ilya Mirochnik
Good first few lessons in the Russian drawing course, but the rest of the course is too sparse to study

I haven't watched the rest of the teachers. John Asaro teaches on there, as does Gary Meyers, both of whom are very famous instructors. But the rest of the teachers don't have too much material on the site anyways. I know some people like Sheldon Borenstein but I find his speaking style very jarring and hard to listen to.

>Chris Legaspi
I watched Chris Legaspi's lectures but they were all a waste of time.

There were two brothers who wanted to learn archery.

One learned to shoot bullseyes in 2 months.
The other learned in 4 months, because he had an iq of 95.

Both ended up in the olympics, because they worked hard.

You don't need to learn style. It's only important when you want to draw in a specific style.

look up reference

Croquis cafe? I know some mega links floating around here has reference. Check the artbook thread.

>>4842230
Arthur Guptill for inking, Vilppu for rendering, unironically.

>>4842234
Not exactly sure, but I think there's no hard and fast rule, it depends on the lighting condition. If there's more ambient light bouncing around the environment and you want a more airy feeling to your piece, make the shadow value lighter. Personally I think going with more saturation might work better.
