Personally I'd be absolutely livid.
First of all, such irresponsible spending genuinely angers me on a personal level, I can solve my life for the next decade with 50k and some faggot is wasting it on some mundane trash. At least give me the damn money and I'll promise I'll spend 10k on commissions of this OC just for you (under my terms, that is). You get more content, I get money and artists get work, everyone is happy.
Second of all, that thing is going to be splash damage to me as it gets constantly brought up everytime the character in question is spotted. "Hey, it's that OC from the 50k animation!" You have any idea how miserable that is to even say out loud? It's publicity, sure, but I dont want to be associated to anything like that.
Third of all, that animation will turn into something I'd be forced to PR way too hard for. People like to be retards and now Im dragged into their retardation by proxy and would have to step in because some idiot spent money to -most likely- tarnish my own canon as a creator for the sake of a wank.

Of course I'd be ecstatic and flattered at first, but once the hype dies down, truth is going to come crashing and the stentch of this whole nonsense is too much to bear.
