There isn't a single unified "manga ™" look and if there were the right wouldn't be the dictionary definition of it. If anything it looks like something influenced by Ilya Kuvshinov.
Both are adequately drawn, so it just comes down to preference. I prefer simple drawings. That Anon doesn't, so I didn't factor my preferences into it when I responded to him. It's important taking a person's intent into consideration when giving critique.
It's a waste of time getting caught up on what looks "authentic" or doesn't. Solid black hair and few lines were standard in the 70's and common to this day in female demographic magazines. It doesn't mean much because there's an immense variety to how these comics can look. That's one of their biggest strengths.
