Can anyone give me some advice on pencil brushes while sketching in photoshop? Trying to get my digital workflow down

I don't much like the actual "pencil" tool because it doesn't seem to react to pressure from the stylus, so I downloaded a few pencil brushes. What I didn't realize is that they actually mimic a real pencil in that they get thicker over time so you "sharpen" them by reselecting the tool. I was really annoyed to discover this as it was so gradual I didn't realize until I'd lost my original lines to the later, thicker ones.

Surely there's some simple pencil or brush that everyone uses for a loose construction/mannequinization phase and I'm just retarded? Bullying welcome on my shitty heads. Thank you
