It's 9 x 12 inches, so not too large. I don't really like working at very large scales.

I've always been more inclined to draw more in an illustration style than "fine art", whatever that means. I take a lot of inspiration from Animation Backgrounds.

I find the company of 80% of artists insufferable.

They're a bunch of self-centered, emotionally stunted man-children who flop wildly between obsessing over the newest corporate glurge being pumped into the marketplace and getting wrapped up the newest political or social cause du jour, lacking basic empathy and understanding of other people while engaging in sickening sentimentality and empty platitudes.

Who on earth would want to be friends with an artist?

I've been using regular Bristol paper and that seems to work quite well. I know there are specific "Marker Papers" but they're kind of pricey and don't seem necessary to me.

It's normal pads of Strathmore Bristol. As I recall I did more or less what you did and it was a disaster.

Well, ok, Gurney was doing it over computer printouts of his sketches, so he could do color sketches over them before settling on a final color scheme for his painting.

I have had graphite lift up though. Just enough to muddy my colors a bit. Might have been using a very soft lead.

Honestly, after discussing it, doing a rough pencil or marker pass on Bristol, covering it in either Matte Medium or Watercolor Ground, and working over that seems like a potentially good method for the kind of work I do. (Pic related)

I may experiment with that approach.

Why thank you.

It's given me time to finish things I started a long time ago. That's been the biggest impact artistically speaking.

Early on, before anything had even closed, I had a few bouts of anxiety. But once we were in the thick of things I felt pretty peaceful.

I guess if I was in New York I'd be a lot more stressed out.

Thread I posted this in ended petty quickly. Guess I'll post it here.
