Studies, my friend. Of the human skull, from life, from pictures, from fleshy heads, from wireframes. Study it. That's the closest you'll ever get to replicating a human head. Don't waste your time like I have for years, toiling in the no mans land referred to as "imagination". Don't sell yourself short of actual references.
