I'm looking for advice on the mechanics of digital lineart. The lack of friction on my tablet makes it feel really weird to me compared to pencil.

The two on the left I did by chicken scratching with a big-ass opacity-enabled brush and using the eraser to shape the lines. I actually like the results, but would still like to end up with cleaner lines. Got this from the "line sculpting" videos by KNKL.

The two on the right are me trying to use quick, fluid motions to ink, and using the eraser to clean up. I really, really dislike how it turns out. Somehow it reminds me of those photoshop filters that try to "cartoonify" a photo. Maybe I'm trying too hard to follow the ref? Got this from most advice from digital inking.

I feel like I'm missing something really basic either about using a tablet, or about inking and lineart in general. Like, if I was painting with this thing, it would be fine, it feels good for that. But lines seem much harder to make.
