/ic/ - Artwork/Critique

Ok, last thing I'd like to know before leaving this forsaken* place :
I got a story to tell and I know how to draw it.
How would you go about (self-) publishing it?
Is it more interesting to knock on the door of a big company like Marvel/DC/Glénat/JUMP or do it by myself?
I talked with a little publisher & I'm hesitating between this or doing it myself.(my own website,webcomic format), I can do some webdev).

*It's filled with crabs & smut + I took all the art references/resources/tutorials I needed.
