My creative hours are from 9 PM to 2 AM. I find it generally preferable to start a piece during the day, say at 9 to 10 AM and finish it by 2 AM the next day and then sleep. I get "bored" of a piece if I have to come back to it after 1 day is up. (It is not true boredom, but rather the feeling that polishing art is not actually the creation of art and that in polishing it my skills have declined and it is a waste of time when I could be doing something else. I also believe that the creation of new pieces is validation that I am not going backwards and the twilight zone of the polishing of a piece is therefore quite frustrating.)

>art looks good as sketches
>Line over the art it looks like cancer on a canvas

>art looks bad as sketches
>can't be bothered to reline it and it comes out as cancer lineart with a nice pretty colouring underneath

>art looks good as sketches
>lining looks good as sketches
>accidentally merge the sketch layer and the lineart layer together

>art looks good as lineart
>need to make the painting lineless
>turn off the lineart layer and it looks like literal shit on a canvas

>start doing lineart
>change the thickness of the brush
>forget the previous thickness of the brush, zoom out of the drawing and areas of ungodly thickness

Drew these hands recently https://i.imgur.com/BjdMnuX.png
Not 100% but way better than these hands from 31/08/2017 https://i.imgur.com/rS8jnqR.jpg
I've said this a couple of times but I:
1. Copied out the right page of https://www.artsartreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Andrew-Loomis-Drawing-the-Head-and-Hands-123-1024x726.png (Loomis hands)
If you copy it out and it doesn't look anything like it, trace the hands until you get it right and then do it by eye flipping/rotating
2. Drew about 20 hands off some photos
3. Drew a fuckload more hands off some photos from pinterest
4. Realise that Krenz and that pixiv guy did some great hands and then every time I want to draw a hand I open those hands up and reference them applying that STYLE of hand drawing to the photo study → add more curves in the lines
5. Draw my hands in the airport very shittily for about 2 hours and try to draw people within a few seconds in a public place
6. Croquis cafe hands on a timer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxG-J8GSqqE
7. More fanart drawn using animu hand references from https://twitter.com/jennygin2 in the meantime for those four months/plus general gesture grinding while copying vilppu's looseness. Also some hands referenced from those hyperangle poses

You just look around and find artists with good colours like Krenz's
https://i.imgur.com/jSkbqdC.png
is quick shitty something I whipped up after looking at
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/79/af/e7/79afe7a6cc806f905482d20779c46ae9.jpg
the object needs to take background colours or match it somewhat I feel http://d-i-e-s-i-r-a-e.livejournal.com/38464.html

You can just collect good colourists eg
https://www.artstation.com/bugmeyer
https://twitter.com/rei_17
http://aquasixio.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-17-A-turtle-walkthrough-345468329
half the struggle is having good refs.
