The last thing you'd ever want to do is work as a mangaka in japan, it is slavery.
People are acting like manga is what killed the western comic industry, but it is only partially true.
What killed the western comic industry is WEBCOMICS and specifically the western publishers failure to adapt and diversify.
If you legitimately want to be a comic maker, all you need to do is make good comics and publish on the web.
You don't need to do some ridiculous thing like pin all your hopes on winning a shounen manga contest and hope suddenly editors are beating down your door (like the people in MMG seem to think is going to happen).
Hell if you are so bent on being in the Japanese market you can submit your work to any of the now dozens of Japanese webmanga publishers.
