im trying to start out with a graphic painting as a guideline then making it more painterly as i build up the paint.

stop giving up on paintings after an hour. you need to build up values over time and really emphasize the lights and darks. when you think it's light enough go lighter when you think it's dark enough go darker. that'll make the chromatic parts stand out even more. go back into older paintings instead of constantly starting new pieces. there's no way you get the correct values on the first pass.

i did more to this. i think this is closing in on the final product might not be there yet though. what do you guys think?
