Kinda not the advice I was expecting. I've swung back more towards believing in the power of studies over imagination recently. I do think it's important to do both though. And I agree with the line about drawing being mostly intuition.

People like people who are earnest and helpful. I'd say just make some new accounts on various websites and just engage with people. Be entertaining. Mention you want to be an artist where relevant. Make fanart for people when you want to, propose deals and ideas that benefit them if you think of any. For most people you can probably get your foot in the door just politely asking for help.

because you failed for the Doing Studies /ic/ meme where instead of actually studying you just try to mindlessly copy the ref 1:1. ban yourself from using reference for a few weeks and force yourself to draw, however shitty doodles you make dont give up. you cannot rely for references for 100% of your work, if you ever get any complex commissions they won't save you. learning to be able to draw from imagination is crucial here. refs should only help you, not be a crutch.

There's literally no better way to practice, and it's way more fun too. Faggots like >>4229977 have it all wrong, you can't just sketch all your life and expect to get better, you have to put your studies knowledge into practice.

Your brain is wired to instant gratification. Twitch, vidya and 4chan will grant you just that so you'll naturally gravitate around those, using up all your free time.
Be aware of that. I'd recommend to use a website blocker, do an hour of drawing before starting to watch Twitch... The trick here is not to chastise yourself for doing what you like, but rather using vidya and whatnot as a "reward" for spending time drawing until it becomes a habit.
Also don't spend all your fucking time sketching for fucks sake, that's not what drawing is about, what do you want to draw really? Get started on that. Refer to picrel.
