I draw almost all my poses from imagination except when I'm practicing/doing studies, and almost every single artist I've watched on youtube or twitch does the same. Doing studies isn't practicing copying, which is also why tracing is not good practice. It's familiarising yourself first of all with the appearance of the sort of things you want to draw, and second with the techniques used to render the things you want to draw. Once you have a good mental grasp of anatomy and proportions you won't need reference, you'll just imagine a pose and draw it, at most using construction or an imaginary gesture to block it out. Knowing anatomy well makes it easier to make impossible or awkward poses look appealing or convincing too. We call them "studies" for a reason. If all art were copying references there would be no difference between a study and any other piece.
