Is art school worth it or am I just a fucking idiot who is going to spend 30k per semester next year? Do I neeed art school if I want to get into story boarding and show design?

This needs to be posted:

Do not listen to the people who claim that you need an absurd amount of work to "make it". You hear it all the time on this board: "this artist did 12 hours of work every day for 5 years", "that artist did 16 hours of work for 10 years" etc.

THIS ARE EXCUSES. Yes, you read that right. The reason people post that and spread those falsities is because it provides an excuse for them not to do something. Because, let's face it, when you see those numbers, 12 hours a day for 5 years, you realize you can't do it so you give up. It's literally a cope for why you're not practicing.

If, however, you knew that the truth is much milder than that, that in actuality you need only a few years and only 3-5 hours of practice/day -- it suddenly becomes manageable and you GET SCARED. You get scared because you no longer have an excuse. You can no longer hide behind the fact that you realistically can't do 12 hours/day for 5 years.

Accept the fact that YES, you need hard work and persistence, but NO, you don't need to be a recluse who draws for half a day every day for 10 years.

im not "taking comissions" in terms of DA/tumblr.
I just post drawings and sometimes get messages like that.

Im just a little shy and dont want to put a post where i say that i want 120$ for a full body picture.
Because on Deviantart or Tumblr people paying 5$ for a full body picture.

Its just...i mostly work with videogame companies and they are ok with paying 120$ for a concept.
But we talking about teenagers and early students in their 20-something. Im afraid they dont want to pay that much or dont have money.
I remember when i was in my early 20s. I most certainly wouldnt pay that much for a picture because i didnt had money,
