the original video booty blasted digital people. soft airbrushes make for lifeless art. reliance on them shows no confidence in your strokes and makes for weak images. good painting is good design of shapes generally, so getting used to making choices puts you on a path to better painting instead of feathering over everything. soft brushes ruined over a generation of digital painting and makes art instantly recognizable as a certain kind of digital work. that sins video isn't gospel but many people break those rules and it makes for terrible looking work. you can do a lot with the hard round and it's good to learn. this video helps you learn to make better paintings that don't look as soft, sterile, and digital. the thumbnail is a good gist of the message. make less like the left, more like the right but be versatile and flexible based on the look you want.
