There's actually no way of knowing if that's true. It's entirely possible in the "timeline" you didn't quit drawing, you plateaued/gave up trying to improve at a certain level. And it's entirely possible if you push yourself to be as good as you can, and use the motivation of feeling inadequate, that you become a better artist than that alternate timeline version of yourself

Your drawing software won't matter at all if you can't draw to begin with. A shit artist will be a shit artist regardless of what gimmicks your software has. And on the flipside, a good artist will be a good artist regardless of which program he's drawing in. Stop making excuses and go draw.
