The problem with exclusively painting in his way is that you see the world like this (pic rel) instead of anything joyous. His landscapes are as bursting with life, as his face and voice.

Yes, there is some merit to his techniques for beginners, but only if you want to paint something carefully controlled in a specific light box. He never paints high key pictures, I don't think he'd be able to. And his landscapes are donkey ass, pic

So I browsed through his works.

For someone who made an entire site about color theory, his colors sure are shit. Look at this, I'd expect to find it on some deviant art page, or in an illustration for a children's history book.

No wonder his colors are shit, he advocates for a limited palette and thinks subtractive mixing can produce additional hues, LOL.
Pro tip: if you have less than 14 pigments on your palette, you're shit.
