This is the anon who wrote this and fair enough, I think it deserved the flack, I didn't write it well, didn't expect so much trigger. So i'll try to clarify:

The main thing is is that OP didn't clarify if he's going to use it as his main art platform: since he mentioned the desktop cintiq 13, I figured he would and so I suggested not to go for a small device like that since the screen size will be limiting in ways such as forcing you to work zoomed in on anything larger than say, figure sketches and small rendered pieces. He also didn't clarify what he'd be using it for: say for animation, you won't have TB or TVP on ipad (altough i think a gimped version of TB is on it).
Which I should be more clear on again: you don't need that at all in order to do great animations nor other software, I often tell people they don't need anything past pencil and paper to get into art. But if OP ends up wanting to do large, resource intensive projects or use features only available on the desktop, he would be better of with even the 13 if he can only get one. (I do know that the ipad is 'cintiqable' but I've heard big problems with the scaling and some people complaining about latency due to wireless.)

If he just wants to use it as a portable device, then I just had better experience with other tablets in having more options for software, control over the pen functions as well as more options for peripherals (I don't feel comfortable using a keyboard on the couch while drawing on the tablet).

Ipad is a great tablet (altough I've only used the smaller one, I'm using a 12.2 inch device now.), but for the cost and it's features, I prefer other options.

CSP is a good point, but may be not enough for what he wants to do. Color me a skeptic, but I have a hard time believing you choose a smaller portable compared to a full-blown cintiq. Unless you just work on portable more, in the case of which, it's not an apt comparison.
