I'm pretty fond of Leyendecker's women, although I think Rockwell's criticism that he didn't paint them with much empathy was correct a lot of the time.

What is anon meant to take from this? Supposedly this was all about the line work, and the linework looks less confident on yours than the original. Like, look at the line on the top of the forearm just below the boob, why is it all bumpy? Those lumps don't seem to be indicating any actual anatomy there. And I don't see where you increased the contrast between angular outlines and organic interiors. I don't know what this is supposed to be demonstrating other than some rendering. If I wanted to give an example of sharp outlines contrasting with organic interiors I would've just used Mucha or Leyndecker as an example, because this example doesn't make it very clear to me.

His faces aren't unappealing because of jagged and angular shapes, it's possible to make great portraits using lines and shapes like that. The problem is he pays no heed to good drafting principles like solid construction and measuring proportions, that and I think he just doesn't have the mileage to know how to make that stylizing subtle.

you're pretty much on point.. all the good people (or at least the ones that were visibly getting better) stopped posting because 95% of the posters there are beginners. Kinda sad actually. You just can't get good criticism. Same with /ic/..
