also every single one of those steps are a field on their own. You could take as much as learning to do interesting line-art as learning how to sketch and don't even get me started on coloring.

I'll recommend you to take it easy and either don't worry how it ends or only apply what you are competent at, in a piece you put a lot of effort on and want it to be in a spotlight.
