the character looks square and blocky, I cant say if you constructed or not but you should try doing cylinders for the limbs. heres an example from steve hustons figure drawing.
you mention the detail for the gun, the character have little to no detail theres no flavor to it, if you can put on so many detail on the gun you can put as much detail on the character holding the gun pimp.
