It’s probably standard advice but when drawing things in motion, it helps to think of the whole sequence before and after, and treat it like an animation you only pull a single key frame from. I think the anticipation of the next movement can give your figures a lot of life. Don’t be afraid to break anatomy a bit if it conveys movement better. As for cool shapes I think everyone is drawn to different ones, what’s important though is that you convey their volume properly through patterns, shading, and even your brushstrokes themselves, always keep in mind that what you’re making is 3d, you’re just forced to depict it in 2d. I wish I’d saved the image explaining it, but abstract shapes can have a clear direction as well. I look up to too many artists to keep track of them all, but the ones that influenced my style the most are jjfrenchie, kjg, koki, bill waterson and dentyou. I’ve been trying to adopt some of James harrens style but I don’t think that really shows
