I know that i'm in no position to teach yet. But i think it might be useful to you anyway.

I think what you think is a color problem is actually a value problem. Your light should get less bright the further it is from the source. That makes the brightest spot on the forhead and as it goes down the value should get darker. I'm really not sure if what i've tried to paint is clear and i'm sure there are more able people on ic that can explain it further.
