Oh, you have to stick to a style for a reason. Shit. Make a ref wall and put it right in your line of sight so you stay on model. It's what araki has to do to remember how to draw some characters.

Now you're free to fuck around and find something new. I saw one artist change it up like model years on a car. He got significantly better overall, but stuck to what he was doing and rolled out iterations towards his new style and better quality every month or so.
